Historical/Listed Buildings

Our work in this challenging and rewarding market sector involves most of the skills offered by the practice, including Civil & Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering and Building Surveying. Condition Surveys and Investigations are a major part of this work and there is an increasing demand for our skills in the refurbishment of the Gardens and Grounds of historic buildings and civic parks.

Clients include English Heritage, National Trust, City of York Council, University of York, York Archaeological Trust.

Commercial & Industrial

We are involved in all aspects of this market sector including Industrial, Business and Commercial developments involving feasibility studies, infrastructure design of highways and drainage together with building and structural design for individual buildings. Clients include White Rose Development Enterprises, Northminster Properties, Evans of Leeds, Fairway Developments, Land Securities.

Our other involvement is in the existing industrial and manufacturing sector, again involving all the services we offer but with particular emphasis on our investigative skills in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering. Clients include British Sugar, 3M, Nestlé, Corus, Dowding and Mills, Short Bros.

Residential

Involvement in this market ranges from property surveys for structural repair schemes and subsidence claims for individual home owners and insurance companies, to site investigations, infrastructure and structural design for major new housing developments, riverside apartments and social housing. We are also involved in alteration and refurbishment schemes and we carry out investigation and design work for the NHBC.

Clients include Persimmon Homes, Wainhomes, Miller Homes, Fulford Builders, Beazer Homes, Bryant Homes, William Birch & Sons, Hogg the Builder, Broadacres Housing Association, South Yorkshire Housing Association.

Education

The work in this market sector covers every conceivable type of building including Historical, Listed, 1970's Concrete, Traditional and New. Once again the multi-disciplinary nature of the practice has paid dividends with many of the projects requiring in-depth investigations prior to the presentation of practical and effective solutions. Clients include University of York, Mount School, St Peters School, Selby College, York Sixth Form College.

Leisure

Once again we employ our combined skills across a vast range of projects in this market sector, including Hotels, Public Houses, Sports Centres, Swimming Pools, Visitor Centres and Visitor Attractions. Clients include Scarborough Borough Council, Mount School, Jorvik Viking Centre, Rievaulx Abbey, Richmond Castle, Novotel, Pubmaster.

Health/Laboratories

Our expertise in problem solving through thorough investigations and effective solutions plays a major part in this sector of our work. The whole range of disciplines offered by the practice has at some time been employed in this complex market sector. Clients include Central Science Laboratory, MAFF, Drake & Skull Technical Services, MSS Clean Technology, University of York.

Defence

The practice has been involved in this sector since the days of the Property Services Agency (PSA) and we have continued to work for the MOD directly or through their appointed representatives to the present day. Clients include RAF (various sites), Army (various sites), Sovereign Consultancy Services (various sites), Serco Aerospace (RAF Fylingdales).
